Mozambique qualify for first ever FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

The Mambas beat Uganda in the semi-finals while Senegal also claimed a World Cup place with a win over Morocco

Senegal and Mozambique remain the only two undefeated teams in CAF’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations and will meet in the final on Saturday.

Both will represent Africa in the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Russia.

Mozambique took yet another victory in the continental contest, beating Uganda by six goals to three, but this time they made history in winning their first ever place at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup which will take place in Moscow in August.

Hosts Senegal also won, but their victory against the Atlas Lions was tight, as they were pinned back to 2-2 for most of the match, until Raoul Mendy netted in the dying moments to secure the Lions of Teranga a spot in their sixth World Cup.

In the playoff for fifth place, Egypt overcame Tanzania by four goals to two, a small consolation for a side that has finished in the final four in the previous two edition of the Beach Soccer AFCON.

The 2021 edition of the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations began on Sunday 23 and will run until Saturday 29 May.
