The Azteca stay perfect in El Salvador and seal qualification for the World Beach Games
The Mexican Women’s National Team clinched their first ever international honour following a consistent win over El Salvador in this World Beach Games Qualifier El Salvador. The Azteca side overcame the spirited approach by the cuscatlecas to seize a historic win and qualify for the World Beach Games, to be held in Doha (Qatar) this coming October.
The forces were tightly balanced during the first stages of the game. Leyve, named MVP of the competition, swept the Mexicans ahead, only to see, though, Marisa and Carolina turn the score around to get El Salvador in command for some minutes.
But after Esli Sánchez equalized the game midway into second period, the azteca side seemed to quickly get in the driver’s seat, and found the ways to do harm on the Salvadoran resistance to gradually build a comfortable advantage.
The final 6-2 sealed the third win for Mexico in El Salvador, confirming La Tri as the best team in the competition and giving them the qualification for the World Beach Games.
Goals: 1-0: Leyva, min. 9(1); 1-1: Marisa, min. 9(1); 2-1: Carolina, min. 5(1); 2-2: Esli Sánchez, min. 7(2); 2-3: Paulin, min. 1(2); 2-4: Karla Pérez, min. 6(3); 2-5: Paulin, min. 1(3); 2-6: Leyva, min. 0(3);
USA win big to end El Salvador Qualifier in second place
The US Women’s National Team closed their participation in the World Beach Games Qualifier with yet another brilliant beach soccer display. The Stars and Stripes won big against Bahamas, and left the competition with a bittersweet taste in their moths, acknowledging that they were really close to qualify for Qatar in their first ever international competition.
Although qualifying to Qatar was not entirely in their hands, the US National Team would leave everything on the pitch to try and make the most of their options.
Samatha Witteman, with two goals, and Lauren Leslie gave the Stars and Stripes a comfortable advantage in the first period. USA would not stop there, and would keep punishing the Bahamian nets all throughout the game, until Eastman’s second hit for the 7-0, with just five minutes to go.
Captain Karen Wert would pull one back for Bahamas, but that was way too little too late to mean anything in the game, and USA grasped three points that got them in the second position in this World Beach Games Qualifier El Salvador.
Goals: 0-1: Witteman, min. 9(1); 0-2: Leslie, min. 1(1); 3-0: Witteman, min. 2(1); 4-0: Fitzgerald, min. 11(2); 5-0: Eastman, min. 7(2) 6-0: Haynes, min. 6(3); 7-0: Eastman, min. 5(3); 7-1: Wert, min. 0(3)
