Hosts and defending Concacaf kings deny Panama’s and USA’s hopes to seal berth in Qatar
Mexico seal qualification to the World Beach Games!
The Mexican National side became the first team to qualify for the World Beach Games following a hard-fought, penalty-kick-shootout win against the USA National Beach Soccer Team.
As was to be expected, the battle between the best two teams in the region was a fiercely contested fight, and only penalty kicks gave the game a way out.
Mexico seemed in a better shape during the first minutes of the match, and the team’s top scorer, Ramon Maldonado capitalized on that dominion with the opener for the Azteca. That advantage lasted for some minutes, until Jason Leopoldo produced a terrific bicycle kick to balance things back.
That did not impress the Mexicans, though, and Vizcarra helped Ramon Raya’s side stay ahead as second period ended.
Time was running out for the Stars and Stripes, who were still one goal down as the final whistle approached. But with two minutes to go, Jason Leopoldo came to the rescue again to give Eddie Soto’s side another chance and send the game onto extra time.
Score would not move during the supplementary three minutes, and Mexico and USA were to discern who was going to the World Beach Games from the penalty kick spot. From the 9-meter distance, the Azteca proved better aimed and, although missing their first attempt, denied USA’s expectations to secure a ticket to the World Beach Games 2019.

El Salvador seize World Beach Games berth, too!
The Salvadoran National Team secured a ticket to the World Beach Games 2019, following a narrow and dramatic win over 2017 Concacaf champions Panama in the semi-finals of this World Beach Games Qualifier they are hosting in El Salvador. The Cuscatleco side held their nerve in the last stages of the game to contend the Panamanian efforts and seal a historic triumph.
Oscar’s stunning bicycle kick in the first minute of the game gave the hosts an early advantage, which they managed to maintain until midway into the second leg. At that moment the Salvadoran nightmare today, Alfonso Maquensi, equalized the score for the first time. It would not be the last, though, as with only five minutes to go, he would fire the 2-2 home to add drama to the last stage of the game.
Before things got worse, though, Exon Perdomo, one of the key men for Rudis Gallo’s side today, scored his second goal of the evening to sweep El Salvador ahead again. Panama kept trying until the end, but to avoid last-minute frights, Oscar found the back of Victoria’s nets again to secure a World-Beach-Games-Qualification worth win for El Salvador.

Trinidad and Tobago prevail in goal battle against Guatemala
Trinidad and Tobago managed to upset Guatemala today and will keep fighting for the fifth place at this World beach Games – Qualifier El Salvador. The Trinitarian prevailed in the amazing strike exchange between both sides, and will now take on Bahamas to see who finishes the competition in the 5th place.
One goal on each end left things balanced at the end of the first period, but Trinidad & Tobago got in control of things as the second period began, with Augustine and king making it 1-3. Guatemala managed to be always close in the score, despite it was difficult to neutralize the two goal gap the Caribbeans were maintaining.
The equalizer for the Chapines finally came midway into the third period, thanks to Alex Morán, but at that moment, it seemed that the fuel in the Guatemalan tank was over. Trinidad and Tobago stood stronger, and seized the win with two goals in the last minutes, which will allow them take on Bahamas in fight for the fifth place in the World Beach Games – Qualifier El Salvador.

Bahamas to keep fighting for 5th
The Bahamas National Time will play for the fifth place at the World Beach Games – Qualifier El salvador tomorrow, following a big win over US Virgin Islands today. Despite having lost the chance to qualify for the World Beach Games, the Bahamians were really focused and determined today, and run past the Virgin Islands to show the beach soccer team the are becoming.
The 2017 World Cup hosts got an early advantage through Gary Joseph’s hit, and immediately widened the gap, with Thompson making it 2-0 before the first break.
Things would not get any easier for US Virgin Islands in the middle frame, as the Baha boys would gear up and virtually close the game with a 4-0 run.
Two goals more in the last period would confirm the Bahamian cruise to the win today, despite a magnificent goal by Schultz pulled one back for US Virgin Islands, confirming that Luiz Escobar’s team will fight for the fifth place in the competition.
