Marseille win Women’s Day Tournament in Casablanca

The French club went undefeated in Morocco to lift the trophy on Sunday


A new women’s tournament saw two of Europe’s most established clubs travel to Morocco for the Women’s Day Tournament this weekend.

Marseille (FRA) downed Belgian club New Team Brussels, as well as both local sides Raja BS and Sporting Casablanca, to finished the round robin undefeated and claim the maiden edition.

New Team Brussels finished second, and featured top players such as Portuguese international Luisa Meza and previous Euro Winners Cup top scorer, Anaelle Wiard, who won the Women’s Day Tournament MVP trophy. She also scored no less than 12 goals in three matches.

Marseille claimed their first title, and USA international shot stopper, Gabby Batmani, was named as the Best Goalkeeper. On top of that, with an incredible 13 goals, Eve Raymond took home the Top Scorer trophy.

Raja BS won against Sporting Casablanca to finish third.

The matches took place at the Morocco Beach Soccer Center in Casablanca on the 19 and 20 March.
