The Beach Soccer Department of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti have organized the first ever beach soccer championship for athletes with intellectual and relational disabilities and Down Syndrome.
The competition, called Trofeo Beach Soccer – Categoria c21, has been organized together with ASD Sport21 Italia, and will have a special regulation, with a more inclusive set of rules, specifically designed for the occasion.
With the support of the FISDIR (Federazione Italiana Sport Paralimpici degli Intellettivo Relazionali – Italian Intellectual Relational Paralimpic Sports Federation), the beach soccer competition will take place in the framework of the Adria Inclusive Games, next 5-8 May in Lignano Sabbiadoro.
Roberto Desini, LND’s Beach Soccer Department coordinator, highlighted the importance of such initiatives: “The social responsibility and inclusion are some of the pillars of our mission, and beach soccer, thanks to its integrating dimension, cannot be an outsider to these kind of initiatives around athletes with disabilities”, he said.
