– Saki finishes Top Scorer as Adriele takes MVP award

Lady Grembach have won the 2022 World Winners Cup!

Brazilian recruit Adriele starred for the Polish club once again on Sunday to take the MVP trophy, while the Japanese of Lazo Apego scooped the Top Scorer and Best Goalkeeper prize thanks to the goal scoring of Saki (with six goals) and the shot stopping of Yu.

Lazo Apego were runners-up, while Barra de Santiago from El Salvador finished their official debut tournament third place. All three teams finished on nine points in an extremely competitive event.

Lady Grembach claim the title on the final day in Cagliari

Lady Grembach depended only on themselves to claim the title but they still had to win the all-Polish clash against FC10 Ladies.

Karolina Palacios opened the scoring in the match with a shot that betrayed Dominika Dewicka. Lady Grembach had the better chances in the first period but it ended with 1-0 on the scoreboard.

FC10 Ladies started picking up confidence in the second period as time passed, testing Brazilian keeper Ana Bê, who held Grembach’s lead going into the final 12 minutes.

The third period started with Adriele showing how much she wanted to take the trophy by firing Lady Grembach’s second goal into the top corner, and their win would become even closer as Katarzyna Borowiec dribbled past the goalkeeper to make it 3-0.

Myroslava Vypasniak still brought some uncertainty with her goal with four minutes to play and Gruszka scored again just seven seconds before the final whistle but Lady Grembach hung on to claim the title that just slipped from their fingers in 2019.

Barra de Santiago beat FBA BS to finish third

Barra de Santiago needed to beat FBA Beach Soccer to still have a chance to win the title, depending on Lady Grembach’s result.

The Salvadorans couldn’t have asked for a better start as Marisa was fouled on the kick-off, and turned the free-kick into goal. But eight minutes later, Privitera shot from the middle of the pitch to equalise the match. That goal didn’t distract Barra de Santiago and less than one minute later Irma restored the lead for the Salvadorans.

Lesly’s powerful strike one minute into the second period increased the gap between both sides ahead of the final 12 minutes.

The third period had an intense start with FBA equalising with goals from Privitera and Pisa. But Barra de Santiago showed their intentions of leaving the title decision for the last match with Fátima and Irma building the score to 5-3, a result that allowed the team from El Salvador to control the match until the final seconds when Privitera headed FBA’s fourth goal in to close the game.
