The Paraguayans beat locals Corinthians and have assured the first place of the competition
Club Nacional have won against Corinthians which means the club from Paraguay are the champions of the Clubs Challenger Cup São Sebastião 2022.
Last minute goal wins it for Club Nacional
The Paraguayans knew after Peñarol’s triumph against Racing that a win in regular time would give them the title and they got off to a positive start with Carlos Alfredo scoring on the kick-off. Edson Hulk equalised in the following minute but Miliciades Migdonio put Nacional back ahead scoring six minutes after the first break.
Jesús Mathias made it 3-1 in the second period but Corinthians would equalise through Zé Lucas and Lucão with less than three minutes to go. The decisive moment of the match arrived with only 30 seconds to play as Carlos Valentín netted the winner for Club Nacional.
Bella’s hat-trick gives Peñarol the three points
Juan Iturriaga opened the count for the Uruguayans before Sebastián Fernando equalised for Racing in the first period, but Peñarol would go leading into the third period with Lucas Medero’s goal.
The third period brought the Nicolas Bella’s show as the Uruguayan international scored a hat-trick that secured Peñarol the 5-2 win, with Gonzalo Jesus Rivas scoring Racing’s second goal.
