The country’s two most successful clubs go head to head for silverware this weekend.
Kristall and Lokomotiv Moscow will contest the Superfinal of the Russian Super League over the course of three matches this weekend in Saratov.
This is the first year that the tournament has been held according to the new formula, with Lokomotiv having finished top of the pile after the normal stages ahead of defending champions Kristall, Spartak Moscow, CSKA Moscow, Delta and City.
Only Krylya Sovetov, Strogino and ELMONT failed to secure their place at the last stage of the Superfinal.
Lokomotiv’s opponents in the semi-finals were CSKA Moscow, who had defeated Delta in the first round of the play-offs.
Lokomotiv picked up 3-0 and 3-2 wins against CSKA, ensuring Ilya Leonov’s men will play in the final of the Russian League for the first time since 2012.
Kristall faced Spartak in their semi, moving a step closer to successfully defending their title with 7-1 and 4-2 victories.
The final matches all promise to be an enthralling watch as the country’s most decorated clubs go head to head seeking to add to their three titles each.
The winner will become Russia’s most successful club, with Kristall currently leading the head to head numbers with 14 wins from 23 meetings.
With a host of FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup winners past and present set to feature for both sides, the Russian finale once again promises to be a great spectacle and all three games will be broadcast live at beachsoccerrussia.ru.
