The hosts face Italy, Poland and Ukraine this week in Bushehr.
This week sees Iran host the first of two top-class events in the space of as many months, with the Persian Beach Soccer Cup taking place in Bushehr from Tuesday until Thursday.
While the Eurasia Beach Soccer Cup in March will feature some of the world’s best clubs, this week’s three-day tournament sees hosts Iran take on Euro Beach Soccer League champions Ukraine as well as FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup-bound Poland and Italy.
For the three European sides, the tournament represents their first competition of the year and will form part of Ukraine’s build-up as they prepare for the defence of their European title.
Poland and Italy will have one eye on the upcoming global showpiece in the Bahamas while Iran will look to entertain their passionate home support with displays similar to those at the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup in Dubai in November, where they finished second to Brazil.
Mohammad Hossein Mirshamsi’s side will head to Malaysia for the AFC Beach Soccer Championship in early March and know that a solid tournament on home sand will serve as ideal preparation.
The opening day sees Italy take on Ukraine in the opening match before Poland meet the hosts.
