InterCup begins tomorrow in St. Petersburg

The 2021 edition of the InterCup starts on Wednesday as Krylia Sovetov meet Russia

The International BSWW Season kicks off in St. Petersburg on Wednesday as the fourth InterCup begins.

Krylia Sovetov and Russia will cut the ribbon on the 2021 edition at the Dynamit Sports Centre in St. Petersburg, which will run from 21 to 25 April.

Russia are the current holders of the InterCup, but local club BSC Kristall – the current champions of Europe – lead the race with two of the three trophies so far.

Russia have the chance to go level with Kristall should they win the 2021 edition, but Angelo Schirinzi’s side remain strong favourites, and their campaign will get underway against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.

A draw which took place earlier this month organised the eight teams into two groups:

Group A: Belarus, Lokomotiv (Moscow), Delta (Saratov), Lex (St. Petersburg)

Group B: Russia, Kristall (St. Petersburg), Krylia Sovetov (Samara), CSKA (Moscow)

Kristall and the Russian national team have a long history in this tournament, as both teams have been drawn in the same group in every edition of the InterCup so far (2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021).

The two previous winners will meet at 19:45 (local time) on Friday.
