“In moments like this, it is important to have events like the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup to give hope to the people”
Today, FIFA President Gianni Infantino visited Luzhniki Stadium, and to view the venue where the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2021 will be held from 19 to 29 August, as well as discuss all the different aspects of preparation for the tournament.
“I met with President Putin earlier today. It’s great to see how big the support is from his side, from the whole government and of course from the Russian Football Union so that Russia and all its people can be proud of organising a World Cup again, in this case a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup“, President Gianni Infantino said.
“It’s a great pleasure for me to be here in Moscow today in front of this incredibly beautiful stadium, the Luzhniki, which hosted the final of the World Cup 2018, the best World Cup ever. In a little more than one month, we’ll have another FIFA World Cup being played exactly here“, the FIFA President added.
During the meeting, Infantino dealt with the preparations for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2021 with the Local Organizing Committee. The head of the Moscow Sports Department, Igor Levitin, and the Deputy Moscow Mayor for Regional Security and Information Policy, Alexander Gorbenko, took part in the meeting too.
“Today, we’re here to discuss, some operational details; the opening and closing ceremonies, and many elements around the construction of this beautiful 5,000-seater stadium, and I want to highlight the support we are getting, which is very important as well. Beach soccer is an incredibly exciting sport, and Russia is performing very, very well as one of the top teams on the planet. The world will once again be coming to Russia, and I think in this particular situation where the whole world is suffering in the Covid-19 pandemic, it is important to have events like the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup here in Russia to give hope to the people,” – Infantino highlighted.
“According to the plan, the stadium will be ready on 10 August, then it will be possible to focus on the ‘final’ settings, – said Alexander Gorbenko.. “As for the restrictions may apply during the World Cup, they will be implemented following the current situation. All necessary measures will be observed. Most likely, spectators who have a vaccination certificate will be allowed into the stadium.“
