Sporting and Copenhagen win big on Day 1 as Filipov scores six for debutants Husty

Slovak newcomers to the Euro Winners Cup marked their entrance in style with a 12-2 thumping, in which Bulgarian Filip Filipov scored six to lead the scoring charts going into Day 2.
Hrnčiar’s double got the debutant Slovakian club off the mark in their first match in Group D, where they faced Spaniards Melistar. Filipov joined the scoring in style with no less than six goals to help Husty seal an opening win in the Euro Winners Cup in impressive fashion. The Bulgarian now sits top of the scoring charts.
Big wins on Matchday 1
Sporting also opened their 2022 Euro Winners Cup account with a comfortable win on Sunday against Bemannia. The Lisbon giants got off the mark straight away against the Swedish club, as captain Coimbra scored twice in the opening minutes to put Sporting in the lead. Bolander pulled one back for the Swedes, but Sporting stretched the gap through Mota to run out 6-1 winners, topping Group D.
Copenhagen stormed onto the Nazaré sand in their first match in Group B as a Damm double had the Danes leading at the break by three goals to two. But the number 10 hadn’t finished there, as he took his tally to four, while a goal from captain Casper Dorph and a Frandsen brace downed Baggio from Finland with a final score of 7-2.
Tight matches see first points won
Star-studded Falfala KQ BSC (ISR) fell behind initially to Romania’s West Deva, as Brazilian Netinho converted to lead at the break. A second-period brace from Swiss superstar Noel Ott turned the match around, and a goal from Ahmad took the final score to 3-1, with no goals being netted in the final third. A shaky start for the Israeli club, but they bag essential opening points in Nazaré.
Levante UD got off the mark is style against Marseille BT from France with two ridiculous strikes by Swiss international Glenn Hodel and Jose Arias in the first period of play. Edu Suarez ended the match with a hat-trick, but not before Marseille refused to let Levante build a comfortable lead, pegging the Spaniards back each time they scored. The tie ended with another goal each from Hodel and Jose Arias to pull ahead to seal the three points.
Hosts mount thrilling comeback
Vamos Manage’s first test in the Euro Winners Cup came against the hosts ACD O Sótão. The home crowd was against them, but the Belgians drew first blood through Huby and Maistriaux. Despite beginning on the back foot, Sotao grew into the match and turned it around with goals from Pombinha, Silvinho, Pedro, Benjamin and two from Duarte, winning their first match 7-3.
Grande Motte (FRA) kicked off the Euro Winners Cup in Nazaré with a comfortable win over Portsmouth from England. They built a 3-0 lead in the first period, and although Pompey picked up their pace, a Grandon brace was enough to help Grande Motte seal three points in Group F.
BS Slavia Praha (CZE) faced Beach Royals Dusseldorf (GER) on Day 1, and an early Bártl strike gave the Czechs and initial advantage. They maintained the gap until the men from Dusseldorf rallied in the final period to net three and snatch the victory with goals from Olli, Sand and Rivera.
Recreativo De Huelva went up against the team that currently sit second in the Portuguese Elite Championship, Casa Benfica De Loures. Andre got the Portuguese off the mark in the first period, but Huleva woke up in the second, as Jose and Pablo broke through the Benfica defence. However, the locals were too strong, and incredible goals from Seixas and Duarte Algarvio wrapped up the points on Day 1
