Group A
Lithuania win 3-1 against Belgium
Lithuania got off to a quick start as Makutunovičius opened the scoring just two minutes into the game. Belgium replied midway through the first period through Depotbecker, levelling the game at 1–1 by the break.
In the second period, Lithuania regained control with Gedraitis and Navickov both finding the net, to give their side a comfortable 3–1 cushion heading into the final period.
Belgium pushed hard in the last period but were unable to break down Lithuania’s solid defence, as they held firm to secure the 3–1 win.
Group B
Kazakhstan win 7-4 against Malta.
Kazakhstan raced into a strong 3–0 lead in the opening period, with goals from Yershin, Kaizer, and Dering setting the tone early.
The second period brought a flurry of goals as Minbayev struck, Demis added a brace, and Kaizer netted his second of the match. Malta responded through Schembri’s double and Nezar’s effort, but Kazakhstan’s advantage stretched to 7–3.
In the final period, Schembri completed his hat-trick to give Malta hope, but Kazakhstan managed the game well to secure a 7–4 victory.
