The international youth tournament organised by the Beach Soccer Legend took place this weekend in Portugal.
The Estádio de Praia in Matosinhos witnessed a true festival of youth, solidarity, and plenty of beach soccer between the 23rd and 24th of August. A new edition of the Madjer Cup — the U14 and U16 international youth championship organised by beach soccer legend Madjer himself — demonstrated that the future of the sport is bright. Quality on the sand is assured, and the men of tomorrow are being shaped today.
This year, Madjer’s message of solidarity focused on children with cancer. To raise awareness of this serious issue, Madjer joined forces with Associação Acreditar (the Portuguese association of parents of children and young people who have or have had cancer) and hosted the UNAOC All-Star Game. The match featured former football and beach soccer stars, along with personalities from other areas of society — including singers, actors, chefs, and athletes.

Years may have passed since they last played on sand, but the skills of Madjer, Alan, and Bruno Torres remain undiminished. Former Portuguese international goalkeeper João Carlos Delgado also proved his reliability with safe hands. Stars from the grass pitch quickly adapted to the beach game, with former Manchester United, Champions League, Premier League, and Euro 2016 winner Nani showcasing his acrobatic flair.

Defensive stalwart Bruno Alves (FC Porto, Zenit St. Petersburg, Fenerbahçe) commanded the aerial battles, while other greats such as Paulo Assunção (FC Porto, Atlético Madrid, Palmeiras, Deportivo La Coruña) controlled the tempo, and Jorge Andrade (FC Porto, Deportivo La Coruña, Juventus) delighted fans with his humour and good spirits.

The match ended in a 3-3 draw, but everyone involved — players and spectators alike — emerged as winners by contributing to the greater cause: solidarity.
In the Youth Tournament, Buarcos and England Beach Soccer claimed the trophies. The Portuguese side from Figueira da Foz delivered a flawless campaign, winning all three group stage matches, defeating Leixões in the semi-finals, and overcoming Caxinas 6-1 in the final.

The team was led by an inspired Kauã Ribeiro, who was awarded MVP. O Sótão’s goalkeeper received the Best Goalkeeper award, while Caxinas’ Hugo Filipe was the tournament’s top scorer with 13 goals.
In the U16 category, England Beach Soccer also completed a perfect run, winning all four group stage matches and triumphing 8-1 in the final against O Sótão.

Ashton Cox earned both the MVP and Top Goalscorer awards with 15 goals, while Diogo Porém was named Best Goalkeeper.
