The 14 players and coaches and BSWW representatives discussed the effect the Covid-19 pandemic has had on the different regions and how the difficulties can be tackled
The BSWW Working group, composed of 14 beach soccer players and coaches as well as Beach Soccer World Wide members and which operates in the framework of The Beach Soccer Foundation, held their first meeting this week.
This group, which includes beach soccer legend and FPF Head of Beach Soccer, Madjer, 2019’s Best Women’s Player of the Year, Spain’s Carol González, England National team captain and 2017 Best Women’s Player of the Year Sarah Kempson, Brazilian Internationals Bruno Xavier and Barbara Colodetti, Swiss former International and lawyer Moritz Jaeggy, Swiss national team coach Angelo Schirinzi, Russia national coach Mikhail Likhachev, USA national team captain Nick Perera, former Brazil international Bruno Malias, Morocco national team coach Mustapha El Hadaoui, Tahiti national coach Naea Bennett, China national team coach Ramiro Amarelle and Japan captain and coach Ozu Moreira, debated the current situation and the steps to take to fight the difficulties our sport is facing after to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Issues dealt with in this opening session were mainly in relationship to the effects the pandemic is having in the different regions, as well as how it is impacting the players and coaches in each of those regions.
The group committed to start looking for financial resources in the different global and national sports institutions to see how feasible it would be to receive support from them in the coming months.
Different views from all the participants helped put together a global picture of the situation that will obviously need to be tackled in a specific way in each of the territories.
The BSWW Working Group will meet again in the coming days to jointly analyse how to progress amid these difficult weeks so that players, coaches, fans and promoters can enjoy beach soccer in the best possible conditions.
