Bohemians are the new Czech champions

The Kangaroos beat Slavia Praha in the final to be crowned Czech champions

Two years after their last title, Bohemians BS 1905 are the Czech champions again.

Last Sunday’s action started with the semi-finals where the Kangaroos defeated Villagers Uherské Hradiště 7-5 while Slavia Praha cruised past Motorlet with a 9-1 result.

A packed Radlicka Beach Arena saw Bohemians and Slavia Praha step on the sand at the end of the day to play a dramatic final of the Fortuna Beach Soccer League.

Both teams led the score in different moments of the match and Pavel Stejskal’s penalty put Bohemians winning 6-5 in the third period. But with only 40 seconds to go, Daniel Valeš netted his fourth goal to equalise the game that went to extra-time.

Without goals in the extra 3 minutes, the match was to be decided on penalties. Jakub Pekárek missed the fourth penalty and Roman Hemzáček hit it home to make it 5-4 in the penalty shootout after a six-goal draw in regular time.

Jakub Janík from BS Villagers Uherské Hradiště was awarded the MVP award of the tournament, while Bohemians’s Patrik Malina was the best goalkeeper of the competition. Daniel Valeš’s 14 goals earned him the top-scorer award.
