For the first time in their history, Pisa have lifted the Italian Cup trophy
Pisa are the new Italian Cup winners. Marruci’s men beat Catania in the final that took place in the sands of the Bell’Italia EFA Village Beach Stadium in Lignano Sabbiadoro.
Catania had the better start with Bê Martins’s goal setting the difference between both teams at the end of the first period.
Pisa equalised through Camilo Augusto but Gori, who was the tournament’s top-scorer with 11 goals, restored the Rossoazzurri’s lead going into the final period.
It was then when Pisa reacted to turn the game around with goals from Jordan, Josep Jr., who would earn the MVP award, and Bruno Xavier. Bê Martins’s second goal set the scoreboard to a difference of one goal, but Bruno Xavier and Camilo Augusto would score again to seal a 6-3 win for Pisa, who thus took revenge from the defeats against Catania in last season’s Cup final and this year’s Supercup.
Happy Car Sambenedettese beat Alsa Lab Napoli in the 3rd-place play-off, while Farmaè Viareggio finished fifth ahead of Terracina, Adriatica Immobiliare Cagliari chiude and ADJ Nettuno.
