Best Player of the Year: Final Three

The Best Player finalists all reach the last three for the first time

The Best Player of 2021 is another step closer to being revealed as the list is cut to just three.

The beach soccer coaches and captains have spoken, and chosen the following players as their top three:

Philipp Borer (SUI)
Ozu (JPN)
Leo Martins (POR)

Borer has swiftly become an essential part of the Swiss national team and helped them reach third place at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup over the summer. He was the Top Scorer in the European Qualifier for the World Cup and impressed in the Euro Beach Soccer League too. This is the first time that Borer has been nominated in the final three Best Players.

Ozu, one of the most well-known beach soccer players in the world, has finally made it to the final three after making the Best 5 team in five out of the six editions of the award. The Japanese talisman lead his national team right to the final of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup over summer, a record finish for the Samurai.

Leo Martins has long been in the conversation of the world’s top players, but has finally been officially named among the top three. The Portuguese star won the MVP at the 2021 Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal as Narciso’s side took their third consecutive title, and his consistent contributions for powerhouse club Braga has seen his number of title increase hugely in recent seasons.

The winner of the award will be revealed at the Beach Soccer Stars gala in Dubai on Saturday 6 November.

None of the players on the list have made the final cut before, and we are going to see a new star crowned as the best of the 2021 season.
