Beach soccer friendlies take place in Italy and Azerbaijan

Italy hosted Switzerland, Moldova travelled to Turkey and Azerbaijan welcomed Kuwait in pre-season friendlies

Three European teams were in action over the weekend, as Italy won and lost a match against Switzerland on home sand and Azerbaijan hosted Kuwait.

Del Duca’s Azzurri welcomed their neighbouring beach soccer rivals Switzerland, as two of Europe’s top side sparred in the build-up to the 2022 season.

A Borer brace helped Schirinzi’s men seal the first match 5-3, while extra time goals from Miceli and Genovali won the second tie for Italy.

Azerbaijan hosted the national beach soccer team of Kuwait as well, winning the first match 6-2, and defeating the visitors once again the day after by two goals to nil.

Goals from the nation’s top internationals, including Orkhan Mammadov, Emin Mehdiyev and Elshad Manafov, helped the locals seal decisive victories in the state-of-the-art stadium the hosts the EBSL in 2018, the Aquatics Palace in the capital Baku.
