Dyar al Muharaqui prevailed in the first ever Bahraini Beach Soccer League, held between May and November and featuring eight teams
Bahrain joined in this last 2013 the Beach Soccer National Championships circuit. The Middle-East country organized a National Beach Soccer League for the first year, driven by the Beach Soccer and Futsal Committee of the Bahrain Football Association (BFA), thus joining the increasing number of Member Football Associations that hold Beach Soccer National Championships.
With eight teams competing, more than 100 players, 56 games and 421 goals scored, the first Bahraini Beach Soccer National League was a true success, and a new proof of the global growth of Beach Soccer. Dyar al Muharaqui were crowned first champions, over runner ups Hotel Safir and Al Sitra Club.
A key figure in the development of Beach Soccer in Bahrain, and one of the driving forces of the National Championship is the Head Coach of the National Bahraini team, Gugga Zoloccowick: “When I accepted the challenge of coming back to Bahrain, one of my main objectives was obviously to foster the development of the sport, and the National is key in that. It gives us the opportunity to observe new players who can potentially join the National Team“, he admitted.
“Besides, it is also important to push Bahrain back into the top sides in Asia, and we look for a bright future in the 2014 competitions. The main goal is to qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup for the third time“, he added.
