The men from the Land of Fire stayed perfect in the closing day to seal silverware at the CFA Belt and Road International Cup
Azerbaijan reigned in the Chinese resort of Haikou, following a loud win over Czech Republic that crowned them champions of the CFA Belt and Road International Beach Soccer Cup 2018.
The 1-4 for the Azeri in the first half virtually sealed the triumph for Zeynal’s men, as Czech Republic needed a win for 3+ goals to grasp the glory.
The Czechs tried to counteract that but saw how each of their attempts was heavily responded by Azerbaijan, with Ilkin, Ramil and Mammadov replying Kratochvil’s 2-4 to make the score 2-7 before the end of second period.
One goal on each end in the last period did not change the course of things, and Azerbaijan cruised to the throne in Haikou, confirming their first international trophy of the season.
Hungary, 2nd
In the other game, Hungary and China vied for different goals. Whereas a victory by the Magyar could make them runner-ups in the competition, the hosts were fighting for their first points. The match was heavily contested all throughout, but finally the Hungarian seized the points, with captain Viktor Fekete opening the score midway half first period and Balasz Rutai closing it just seconds before the final whistle. With six points out of nine, Hungary became the runner-ups in the competition.
