The Asian Beach Games ready to commence

Phuket, Thailand is set to be in the middle of spectacular action from the 15th of November to the 22nd

An event which will be bring all the best in the continent to compete for Gold is here. The opening ceremonies were on the 14th and the beach soccer competition officially starts on Saturday, with Vietnam vs Kuwait.

2012 hosts and runner-ups, China, will follow, facing Uzbekistan, and defending champions Iran play in the third match of the opening day, taking on Syria before the hosts, Thailand, hit the sand in their game against Qatar.

The Olympic sponsored event is the 4th biannual and has already been established as a jewel of the Asian continent. This year is no different and figures to be even better as the relationships have been further strengthened over the years.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has laid the groundwork for this great event. The Asian Beach Games first began in 2008 were held on the stunning island of Bali, Indonesia, then they headed to the spectacular Muscat, Oman, and the third edition took place on the beautiful coastline of Haiyang, China. This is the first time the event has been held in the paradise resort of Phuket, Thailand.

Each year the spectacle has gotten bigger and bigger and with the growing popularity of beach soccer, it has been a perfect union with the OCA. The government of Thailand has been instrumental in working with the Olympic Committee. The strong support from all parties, including other governmental agencies, such as the Ministries of Tourism and Sport has helped to create this memorable tournament.
