The growth of the sport in the region, indeed, could not be understood without the key role Dubai and the UAE have been playing since many years ago. The role of the Dubai Sports Council, brilliantly steered by HH Sheik Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the General Secretary, Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif, has been crucial for this to happen. All the expectations and trust Beach Soccer Worldwide have placed in the city have been fully given back, and even more than that. Since the first FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2006 – Asia Qualifier, the relationship has been getting stronger and stronger, and the lasts events held on Emirati soil prove that the sport feels at home when in Dubai.
This is why Beach Soccer Worldwide, with president Luis Felipe Tavares and vice-president Joan Cuscó ahead, feel there is still a long way to walk together for Dubai and the sport. So far, the deal secures the presence of a major international Beach Soccer event every year until 2017, but everyone is confident that that will not be, by far, the end of the story. The binomial Dubai-Beach Soccer has a bright future ahead…
