Wins for Corinthians and Nacional at the Clubs Challenger Cup

Brazilians and Paraguayans started the Clubs Challenger Cup on the right foot


The Clubs Challenger Cup São Sebastião 2022 kicked off this Friday at the Balneário dos Trabalhadores – Praia Grande in São Paulo, Brazil. The competition will be played until Sunday 18 September.

Nacional put eight past Peñarol

Nacional and Peñarol opened the tournament and it was the Uruguayans who broke the deadlock through Benaducci two minutes into the game. But their lead wouldn’t last long as Carlos Valentín equalised in the next minute, and three minutes later Jesús Mathias turned the result around.

The scoreboard saw no changes in the second period but in the third, the Paraguayans solved the dispute with six goals. Cantero, Amado, Carlos Alfredo, Nestor Ignacio, Rolon and Carlos Valentin for the second time, added their names to the scoresheet for Nacional to win 8-1.

Local win for Corinthians

The second match of the day saw locals Corinthians face Racing from Argentina.

The only difference between both sides in the first period was Lucão’s goal two minutes into the game.

Corinthians’s lead would be extended in the second period through Zé Lucas, who would score again three minutes into the third period making it 3-0.

Edson Hulk sealed the deal scoring the 4-0 that give Corinthians the three points.
