WAFF and BSWW hold a workshop for beach soccer coaches

The online course will take place on 1 and 2 June and be conducted by FIFA Instructor Taleb Bin Hilal

The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) and Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) are preparing to start implementing the first activities which form a part of the joint collaboration agreement signed between the two organisations, by holding a virtual workshop for beach soccer coaches on 1 and 2 June 2021.

WAFF has already begun a series of administrative steps towards arranging the workshop, which will be held under the supervision of the FIFA and AFC Instructor Taleb Bin Hilal Al Thani, inviting all member associations to nominate five coaches to participate, provided that they are former players or coaches in the field of football.

Khalil Al Salem, General Secretary of WAFF, stated that the workshop comes as a part of WAFF’s efforts to expand and develop its activities in the future, with the most important step being the organisation of a beach soccer tournament in the West Asia region on an annual basis in collaboration with BSWW, and further working to implement their long-term strategy so that the tournament becomes approved, as well as a qualifier to the AFC finals.

Meanwhile, Al Salem explained that the workshop is in line with the objectives of benefiting from the pioneering and distinctive experiences that BSWW as an organisation has in this field through its supervision and organisation of many activities, events, and major tournaments.

Joan Cusco, President of the BSWW, stated that this workshop is the start of a series of programs to be held between BSWW and WAFF, which aim to raise the level and implementation of beach soccer across the West Asia region as a whole, and at all levels. Mr Cusco also expressed his confidence in the plans that exist in the partnership strategy that he assures will play a big role in the development of beach soccer.

Moreover, WAFF and BSWW had signed a 3-year collaboration agreement that includes many plans to activate beach soccer in the region, in conjunction with the implementation of various development projects, as well as creating opportunities for players, referees, staff, and coaches.

WAFF had previously organised its first WAFF Beach Soccer Championship hosted by Iran in May 2013, with the participation of seven teams: Iran, the champion, Oman, the runner-up, and Bahrain, Qatar, Palestine, Lebanon, and Iraq.
