El Salvador come in second as La Celeste win Goalfun CFA Beach Soccer Championship despite defeat to Bahamas
Uruguay retained the championship in Tangshan but lost to Bahamas on the final match day, as hosts China miss out on second place with loss to Denmark.
The Danes managed to avoid sixth place with the 2-1 victory over their hosts, while Trinidad and Tobago suffered a heavy defeat to El Salvador to finish at the bottom of the table.
The Salvadorians netted five and, thanks to China losing to Denmark, retook second place to finish the competition as runners-up.
China’s Bai Fan claimed the MVP award, while teammate Zhang Xunwei bagged the prize for Best Goalkeeper.
Bahaman Lesly St. Fleur scored a total of eight goals across the five matches, enough to see him take home the Top Scorer award.
Another successful competition in China completed and a strong performance from the hosts are yet more positive signs of the growth of beach soccer in the country. Let’s see what next season brings…
