UAE and China earn first points

The Emirati and the hosts win in their debut in the Asian Beach Soccer Cup 2013, and target final on Sunday

UAE takes off in third period to earn the points

The United Arab Emirates run past mighty Vietnam in the second day in the Asian Beach Cup, after a hard fought win only confirmed in the last stage of the match. It took the UAE two whole periods to shake the Vietnamese pressure off, but a prolific last leg got Mendes side the points, overtaking Australia in group B and setting everything ready for the fight for the final tomorrow.

The Emirati seemed to get things fairly under control in the opening of the game. Just three minutes into the first period, Mohammed Abbas, with two goals, got his team 2-0 ahead. But Vietnam reacted, and leveled the score in just two minutes. Abbas hit again in the dying seconds of the first leg to sweep UAE ahead once again.

Vietnam tried to keep fighting, and equalized once again in the last period, but as the last leg began, it was made clear whose hands were the points flying to. A 5-0 run in the third period gave the game a truly Emirati colour, and sealed a victory that has Mendes? lads on top of the table, awaiting for the group decider against Australia tomorrow.

Last breath missile gets China ahead

Goalkeeper Tingyuan Wen gave China the first three points in this Asian Beach Soccer Cup they are hosting in Haiyang, thanks to a terrific coast-to-coast missile straight to the back of the Thai nets with just seconds to go. Thailand proved to be a really tough opponent for the hosts, equalizing once and again the Chinese advantages, but the Chinese prevailed in front of a boisterous crowd.

Sun Guanrong opened the scoring for the hosts, and Ongaro?s side could even widen the advantage with Liu?s hit for the 2-0. Thailand managed to pull one back just seconds before the first hooter, thanks to Arsachai?s long-range missile, and that got them back to the fight.

The Thai side was not to give up easily, and equalized the score twice to get in the last minutes of the game keeping significant chances to upset the hosts on their own soil. But all that changed in a second. Clock was ticking down to the extra time when the Chinese goalkeeper chipped the ball and fired a terrible missile home from a 30 meters distance, to seize the points for his side in a really dramatic end of the game.

Both sides will face head to head tomorrow to finally decide who keeps the first place in this Group A, and this is some match not to miss on the evidence of what we have seen today?
