European men’s and women’s clubs, as well as a women’s national sides rankings have been unveiled
Today is an historic day on the timeline of the development of beach soccer. Three more rankings join that of the men’s national sides, which Brazil have dominated for so long.
A classification has been released for the men’s clubs in Europe, as well as the continent’s women’s national sides and clubs, a huge step in the growth of women’s beach soccer.
These rankings, unlike that of the men’s national sides, will be updated each year.
European Club Ranking – Men
With an increase in the number of tournaments in club beach soccer, the 115 teams in the men’s ranking now have a ladder on which to compete and to aspire to climb.
Following back-to-back successes in the Euro Winners Cup, as well as winning domestic trophies, SC Braga of Portugal, sit firmly rooted at the top of the European club ranking for men, with 2452 points.
The side they defeated in this year’s EWC final, BSC Kristal from Russia, take up second, and their countrymen BSC Lokomotiv Moscow, are in third.

European Ranking – Women
For now, the opening version of the European Ranking – Women consists of just eight sides, but if the surge of activity and interest in recent years is anything to go by, this number is certainly set to rise.
A tight affair, the Swiss currently sit in first position with 481 points after strong performances in Europe over the last few seasons. Spain are second, just 20 points behind, and the English ladies come in third, on 443 points.

European Club Ranking – Women
The ranking of Europe women’s club is made up of 32 teams from all over the continent, and the star studded WFC Zvezda are on top…for the time being!
Like the national side ranking, the classification remains tantalizingly close, but after the Russian side powered through their Women’s Euro Winners Cup campaign to lift the trophy, the have the initial advantage.
They were helped to victory by players such as Anna Cherniakova, who was a nominee for Goal of the Year, and Marina Fedorova, who won Best Women’s Player of the Year.
In second are Portsmouth Ladies from England, and the Swiss side BSC Havana Shots sit in third.
