The Verdeamarela rules in San Luis

Brazil clinches the Copa San Luis following a tight win over hosts Argentina, as a wonderful comback gives Mexico the bronze

The Brazilian team finally won the Copa San Luis after a tight match against Argentina. In a final match played in a deafening atmosphere, with stands packed to the brim, Junior Negão and Brazil managed to dispose of the Albiceleste and spoil the dream ending to the party that thousands of local fans came to see.

The match was highly competitive and hard-fought, as expected, and success belonged to the Brazilians, who played a very disciplined match, and that made all the difference. Bokinha, who was subsequently named top scorer alongside fellow Brazilian Mauricinho, opened the scoring in the deciding match. Argentina was not phased and look to continue the party that they enjoyed  until today as they created some dangerous chances in Mão’s goal, but none of the Argentinean attempts found the back of the net.

Instead, Datinha managed to extend the difference to 2-0 just minutes before the end of the second period. Not much changed until the tournaments’ best player, Leguizamon of Argentina, cut into the Brazilian lead late in the middle frame.

The game’s last period was an authentic display of attacking Beach Soccer. The Albiceleste tried everything, but the Brazilian defense was just as fierce. The equalizer never came and to make things certain, Datinha struck again to close the match, ensuring that the Cup finished in Brazilian hands.

Amazing rally gives Mexico third

The Mexican national team took the third place in the Copa San Luis de Fútbol Playa, after beating Uruguay with a masterful comeback. The Tri found themselves down 4-0 in the first frame, but ended up completing the spectacular come-from-behind victory to earn three points.

After two defeats in their first two games, both Mexico and Uruguay wanted to erase the bad tastes from their last matches. The Uruguayans seemed more prepared to do that as they scored twice in the first minute of the game and opened the scoring, even extending their lead with two more goals from their captain Martin Diaz.

It seemed that the Uruguayans had the perfect answer for everything Mexico tried, and it did not help that Mexico looked nothing like the competitive side it was in their first two matches. But midway through the second period that all changed as the Tri began to demonstrate they Beach Soccer prowess on the sands of the Parque Recreativo, and they cut into the lead to make it 4-3, thanks to goals from Luna and Cati .

Though the momentum was on their side, the Mexican comeback was far from over. Vazquez tied the score at 4 and again Luna, the Mexican hero of the day, scored his third goal to help complete the brilliant comeback, giving Ramon Raya and the Tri the third position in the Copa San Luis de Fútbol Playa.
