The Euro Winners Cup 2016 by numbers

With the Euro Winners Cup finished for another year, we take a look at how a historic 2016 competition played out in Catania, with the help of some facts and figures.

– 520 players took part, while teams brought a total of 110 delegates to Sicily

– 102 matches were played, adding up to a grand total of 7,650 minutes

– 1011 goals were scored across the seven days of competition!

– 22 referees officiated the matches, with the help of two coordinators

– 44 teams competed across the two competitions

– 18 goals were scored by both Gori and Federova, the men’s and women’s top scorers respectively

– Beach Soccer proved to be again a true fair-play sport. Only 1,6 Yellow cards per match and only one red card every 10 games! There were a couple of exceptions to that, though… : Eight yellows and one red card were shown during Falfala’s Group D win against Odesos.

– Sun and heat also played their part: 14.800 bottles of water were consumed.
