A fourth title in five years sees Rostocker Robben claim the German crown
The German Beach Soccer League was clinched once more by the dominating Rostocker Robben, who mounted a spirited comeback to overcome Beach Royals Dusseldorf.
Sunday 25 August saw the team from north Germany retain their national title from the penalty spot.
They scored two to take an initial early lead in the opening period but in the second, the side from Dusseldorf fought back and took command of the match until the very last minute, when German international, Sven Korner hit an equaliser to make it 5-5. The match was decided on penalties where Rostocker Robben kept calm to take the shootout by two spotkicks to one.
Hertha BSC Berlin beat Real Münster to third place, while last year’s finalists Ibbenbürener BSC finished the league in fifth. However, their star player and German national side talisman Christian Biermann won both the awards for Top Scorer and MVP.
Jose Carlos Caballero of Real Münster took home the Best Goalkeeper prize,
Another dramatically fought final secured a spot at the 2020 Euro Winners Cup for Rostocker Robben.
