The Spanish beach soccer legend has left his post as UAE head coach to join the LaLiga club
Ramiro Amarelle, Spanish beach soccer legend and UAE head coach, has been named as assistant coach to Quique Setién (also a former international beach soccer player) at Villareal.
The ex-Barcelona coach, who played alongside Amarelle for the Spanish national beach soccer team, was appointed as the head coach of the LaLiga club on Tuesday 25 October. Just hours later, Amarelle, who was until now the head coach of the UAE national team, was named as a part of his technical staff.
Villareal, who currently sit seventh in the LaLiga standings, appointed Setién as head coach following the departure of Unai Emery, who left to replace Steven Gerard as boss of Premier League club, Aston Villa.
Brazilian Victor Vasques, who was assistant coach under Amarelle, has been announced as the new head coach of the UAE, who will be playing in the upcoming Emirates Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup, which will kick off in a week’s time .
Ramiro Amarelle made the shortlisted of the top three coaches in the world in the build-up to the Beach Soccer Stars in Dubai, alongside Saudi Arabia coach Guga and Swiss coach Angelo Schirinzi. The winner will be announced at the gala on Friday 4 November.
