Swords enjoy a deserved rest in the European Beach Soccer arena, and after an amazing and contested continental season, one team rises higher than any other. This team is Portugal, who after beating Italy in the EBSL Superfinal not only became the European Champions, but they earned the amount of points enough to place themselves at the top of the 2010 table. The brilliant Lusitanian performance in the European final and the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier (where they were finalists, losing to Ukraine) completed a dream last season stage that made them overtake Russia and former table leaders Spain in the accumulated standings as well (from 2008 on).
Whereas Russia kept on similar figures to the ones achieved last season, what lets them remain as runner-ups, Spain has suffered the effects of their dubitative season. Although La Roja began in a good shape, winning the Marseille EBSL stage, their latter performances were not that satisfactory, what dropped them to the 5th position in the 2010 table, consequently losing two steps in the general ranking.
The most significant ascents in the accumulated table are the ones by Ukraine, jumping nine steps up thanks to their victory in the FBSWC Qualifier, and Turkey, new Division A tenants next year. On the other side of the coin, we find Norway and Greece, losing 8 and 6 steps respectively after a bitter season.
