Narciso’s side seal second win in Haikou, whereas Czech Republic upset England from the penalty kick spot
Things got clearer in the second competition day at the CFA Belt & Road International Beach Soccer Championship Haikou 2019, with Portugal securing a second wing that leaves them alone on top of the standings in China.
Madjer and co. bent hosts China to grasp three more points for an overall of six out of six in the competition. The tournament top scorers, Leo Martins and Jordan Santos, were in hand today for the team of the Quinas, and, with two goals and three goals each of them, made things impossible for the hosts.
Their mild reaction when the score was 0-2 was quickly suffocated by the Portuguese, who always managed to keep a wide distance in the scoreboard and the victory safe.
In the first game of the day, Czech Republic managed their first win, following a balanced fight against England. After England had turned the core around, coming from 2-3 behind to command the game 4-3, Dominik Andrle gave the Czechs the right to keep fighting for the points on extra time.
The score would not move in that supplementary three minutes, so the game ended up in the penalty shootout. Martin Dlouhy’s lads proved more accurate from the spot, and seized the point at stake.
Notwithstanding, England gets to the last day of the competition with all their chances intact. A win on regular time against Portugal tomorrow would get them the cup. Instead, any result (but a defeat on regular time) would have Narciso’s side prevail in Haikou.
