Poland and Moldova pick up second wins in Chișinău

The teams both sit on six points heading into the final day

Poland win 7-4 against Saudi Arabia.
After winning on the opening day in Chișinău, Poland looked to reach six points as they went up against Saudi Arabia, who were looking to bounce back after suffering defeat against the hosts on day one.

It was a blistering start from the Saudi Arabians as Alduiasri struck within the opening two minutes of the first period, however, Poland fired back with three goals of their own as Mańka netted the equaliser and Pietrasiak scored his second brace of the competition in as many games.


The Polish team started to pull away in the second period of the match as Klopeć, Niesler and Gajda found he target, whilst Alyoubi scored Saudi Arabia’s second goal of the match as his team trailed by four with 12 minutes to play.

In the final phase of play, Saudi Arabia were handed a lifeline as Pietrasiak found himself on the scoresheet but this time for the wrong reasons, as he put the ball into his own net. Despite the error from Poland’s number seven, he completed his hat-trick soon after to take his goal tally up to five for the tournament.

Qasem scored for Saudi Arabia with just over a minute to play in the fixture, but Poland held on for their second win of the competition.

Moldova win 5-2 against Türkiye.
Victors on the first day of action and hosts Moldova played in the second match of the day as they took on Türkiye who came out second best in their competition opener.

Moldova found themselves three goals ahead after 12 minutes as Ignat, Istrati and Florea all produced stunning strikes from range, meaning their side led 3-0 once the opening period came to a close.

Only one goal was scored in the second period as the Turkish side netted their first of the match, courtesy of Ismail.

Cojocari fired the ball home twice in the third period, as Cem Keskin found Türkiye’s second goal of the evening. The final blew signifying Moldova has secured their second victory of the tournament.
