MD BSC takes the Women's trophy after upsetting defending champions Shoreline BS
Virginia has experienced, once again this weekend, an unforgettable beach soccer festival, with the 26th edition of the North American Sand Soccer Championships - US Open. Virginia Beach has hosted thousands of beach soccer players, fans and families to set up a truly awesome sports party.
The U Beach Soccer Club, with former US international Gio Garcia and international stars such as Uruguayan Dinamo Pampero Sobral, upset Great Lakes Beach Soccer in the final to grasp their first US Open title. The U survived a last minute comeback and held their nerve to seize the trophy.
In the fight for third place, The Tacoma stars, featuring some US Soccer internationals such as CONCACAF top scorer Nick Perera, goalkeeper Cris Toth, Tanner Akol and Dos Santos, amongst others, bent the defending champions Maryzillians with an incontestable 5-2 win.
In the Women's competition, MD BSC takes the Women’s U.S. Open trophy & prize, after dethroning defending champions Shoreline Beach Soccer team to take their first Women’s U.S. Open.
Instead, hosts HRSC Elite managed to keep the bronze medal on home soil.
