Belarus reign at the EBSL Minsk!

The hosts lead an unbelievable comeback against Italy to seal silverware on home soil

The Belarussian National Side showed today a new evidence of their growth claiming the Euro Beach Soccer League Minsk title against the experienced and powerful Italy. But, it was more the way they did so, though: coming from 1-4 behind and overcoming the Italian 5-5 in the last second of the game to seal a historic triumph on extra time.

Everything seemed really under control for Italy after Zurlo’s brace and Marinai’s hit made it 3-0 just eight minutes into the game. But an amazing own goal by Ramacciotti seemed to be the turning point.

After that, and despite the fact that Palazzolo’s restored the advantage for the Azzurri, Belarus started to believe. More and more. As second period began, the tournament’s top scorer, Ilia Savich, started narrowing the gap for his side. Three goals by the prolific forward balanced things back right in that same period.

Bokach swept the hosts ahead for the first time in the game and, when it seemed that the victory wouldn’t scape Belarussian hands, Ramaccioti sent the game onto extra time with a free kick right over the hooter.

But a free kick was also the way Bryshtel found to get back for his team what they have been longing for, sealing a historical win for the White Wings.

Turkey skip Promotion Final with win over Poland

Turkey needed to leave Minsk with some points if they wanted to avoid having to play not to lose their Division A berth late in the season, and so they did. A solid win over Poland, in a game in which the Turkish found themselves ahead for most of the minutes, got them the points they needed.

A 3-0 run in the first half of the opening leg helped the Aykurt’s men see things from another perspective, as they shake off all the anxiaety leading to this game. Poland, who also needed the points to try secure a place in the  Superfinal, tried to react, but could not balance things back until midway second period, with the most unlucky rebound hitting Mehmet’s face and ending in the back of his own net.

Turkey untied the score immediately, and geared up to manage a 4-0 run that virtually gave them the points. When Poland found Milli Takimlar’s back of the net again, it was already too late.

The final whistle keeps both sides in Division A, but Poland’s expectations of trying their chances in the Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal might have vanished.
