UAE FA president attends beach soccer training session

Sheikh Rashid Humaid Al Nuaimi praised the success of the beach soccer team in recent years

It was a special day for beach soccer in the United Arab Emirates yesterday, as Sheikh Rashid Humaid Al Nuaimi, the President of the UAE Football Association, was an honoured guest at the training session of the national beach soccer team.

Sheikh Rashid Humaid stated that he was aware of the recent success of the team, having seen them qualify yet again for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, as well as reaching the final of the Asian Championship.

“We are taking beach soccer very seriously.” Sheikh Rashid Humaid said. “The national team has increased its level a lot and the sport is growing quickly in the UAE.”

The special guest was received by the national team captain Walid Mohammadi, who told Beach Soccer Worldwide that it was “a great honour for the President to come.”

“Our rulers and the Sheikhs often come to the site to see how they can support us in representing our country. Working together, our dream is to go further, to win the Asian Cup, go further than the semi-finals in the Intercontinental Cup, and be Number One.”

Beach Soccer Worldwide and Dubai Sports Council announced on Thursday that the 2020 edition of the Intercontinental Cup will take place in March 2021.

The flagship tournament, one of every beach soccer fan’s highlights of the season, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event in March means that the beach soccer community will now enjoy two editions of this amazing competition in a single year.
