Hosts Morocco take their first win as Algeria are blown away by 16 Oman goals
The group of four teams battling in the Morocco Beach Soccer Cup in Agadir is taking shape, as matchday two saw Oman net 16 goals to overwhelm Algeria, while Morocco handed a defeat to Netherlands.
Sami Al Bulushi claimed no less than seven of the 16 goals that saw Oman defeat Algeria and after the first 12 minutes, the number nine already had four. But Algeria had taken an initial lead through Sefir, only to lose it in dramatic style.
Going into the second period with the score at 6-1, a way back was near-impossible for the North Africans and Oman kept pushing for more, with Mandhar, Sharif and Nooh all getting their names on the scoresheet, and before the final whistle sounded they managed to hit a total of 16.
In the day’s other game, Morocco served a convincing defeat to Netherlands. After an opening period which didn’t see any goals, Morocco eventually broke the deadlock through Rabi Aboutalbi. Before long he had two and when Sami Iazal made it three, the Dutch looked to be in trouble.
Lody Stefano pulled one back before the third period started but Morocco kept coming with fresh attacks and scored four more to grab the three points from the Dutch with a final sore of 7-2.
Oman shoot to the top of the group with six points, while Morocco go second. Netherlands are level on points with their hosts but sit in third with Algeria in fourth.
