The Azerbaijan Beach Soccer Super League began in Baku at the weekend.
The inaugural Azerbaijan Beach Soccer Super League got underway on Friday in Baku with four teams contesting the first edition of the competition.
Neftchi, Sumgait, Zira and Sabail are the four teams to take part in the historic first staging of the event with all competing in the first two rounds of the event on Friday and Saturday at the European Games Park in the capital.
The venue was the stage for beach soccer at the European Games in 2015 and, in total, it will see eight more games this year played across four stages as the country prepares to crown its first national champion.
Beach soccer is currently in a very healthy state within Azerbaijan – the country having gained promotion to Division A in the Euro Beach Soccer League last year.
Azerbaijan will get their Division A campaign up and running in Siofok, Hungary, next month before heading to Warnamunde in Germany for the fifth and final normal stage ahead of the Superfinal and Promotion Final.
