The second edition of the competition goes international with the participation of a team from Georgia
Torredembarra will once again host the Llorenç Beach Soccer Cup. A competition designed for young talents from all over Europe that aims to contribute to the evolution, professionalization, and future of beach soccer. The championship will take place from 6 to 9 April on La Paella Beach.
The competition named after the former beach soccer star Llorenç Gómez, will be played in the U19 male category, with the participation of five teams from different parts of Spain and one foreign team from Georgia. The tournament opens thus its borders and takes a step forward towards its goal of becoming a great showcase for new generations from all over Europe in future editions.
The tournament will be played in a league format, with all teams facing each other. Training sessions will be held on Thursday, followed by the group stage matches on Friday and Saturday. Finally, the playoffs will take place on Sunday.
The Llorenç Beach Soccer Cup was presented this Tuesday in a press conference where its patron showed himself very happy to be able to celebrate this second edition of the event. Llorenç Gómez has recalled the great difficulty involved in organizing an event of this type in lower categories, and the great work, involvement, and perseverance behind it to make it happen. In this sense, he has highlighted the participation, for the first time, of an international team, Ajara Georgia, which, as he explained, “represents an extra incentive for both the organization, the municipality, and the rest of the teams.”
Llorenç has shown enthusiasm in “being able to repeat the good atmosphere generated in the last edition during Easter” and has thanked the support of the Torredembarra City Council, Beach Soccer Worldwide, and all the companies and collaborating entities that make it possible.
Ricardo García, Director of Competitions of Beach Soccer Worldwide, ensured that “the event has all the elements to be a total success, both in the present and in the future, with a great connoisseur of the sport such as Llorenç and with unbeatable facilities and dates.” García expressed his pride “to see that the championship is growing, this year with the participation of a Georgian team, which will become a loudspeaker for the future that will allow us to make more noise and attract more foreign teams.”
The Director of Competitions of Beach Soccer Worldwide has insisted on the need to take care of lower categories and celebrated that “Llorenç is doing a very good job.” “A job,” he said, “that we praise and that we will continue to support to continue contributing our bit.”
