This weekend in Bellaria Igea Marina saw an historic victory for Lady Terracina who won their fourth Serie Aon title in as many years
Sunday (22nd July) was a special day for the Lady Terracina team as they secured the Serie Aon title with a hard-fought victory against Lokrians who appeared to run out of stream in the closing stages of the final.
Two goals from Sandy Iannella, the second in the dying minutes of the game, proved vital in securing the win.
It was the fourth title on the bounce for the Lazio-based club, who’s men’s team had just missed out in the Coppa Italia final against Catania, just two weeks earlier. It was also the fourth consecutive victory for team captain, and home-grown player, Deborah Naticchioni.
The Mayor of Bellaria Igea Marina, Enzo Ceccarelli, presented the referees, Tranchina di Udine and Gosetto di Schio, with a plaque, whilst the Coordinator of the Dipartimento BS Lega Nazionale Dilettanti, Roberto Desini, presented the winner’s trophy to the victorious Lady Terracina.
Mr Desini shared some words of reflection as the event came to a close…
“The home crowd had a lot of fun watching the live performances of the men’s and women’s Serie Aon – said the Coordinator of the Dipartimento Beach Soccer – Bellaria Igea Marina has passed its debut in beach soccer with flying colors and we hope that this stage is just the first of many in the future.”
