The St. Petersburg side brushed past Alliance to getting title retaining campaign underway
The reigning champions laid an early claim to the 2019 Russian Cup with a 5-13 defeat of Alliance on the opening day of the Russian Beach Soccer Cup 2019 edition in Sochi.
There were also wins for last year’s finalists, Lokomotiv, as well as Kronshtadt-Promenad, Indastrials, ELMONT, Krylia Sovetov, Spartak Moscow and Euro Winners Cup semi-finalists, Delta.
In Group A, the Railway Men, spearheaded by 2018’s best player Llorenç, took a 4-1 win over Lex on day one, while Kronshtadt-Promenad beat Sputnik 7-2 to go level with Lokomotiv on three points.
Indastrials struggled in the day’s tightest game, managing to only just squeeze past Lukoil by six goals to five, while five for ELMONT was enough to see them win against JSC Mehta in Group B’s second game of the day.
Zvezdy Dinamo fell to nine goals from Krylia Sovetov, who draw level with Kristall on points in Group C.
A close match-up between City and Spartak Moscow saw the Moscovites overcome the Leningrad side by three goals to one.
