The semi-finals of the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup have been defined: Japan and Oman will join the United Arab Emirates and Iran in the discussion for place in the final. Having won their respective quarter-final encounters, both Japan and Oman have secured a place in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2023 in the UAE.
Braces from Akaguma, Ozu and Kibune see Kuwait off
The defending champions didn’t allow the result to be discussed as they stepped on the sand for a strong start that saw them lead 3-0 at the end of a first period in which Akaguma found the back of the net twice.
Kibune would also score his second goal, captain Ozu also netted a brace while goalkeeper Shibamoto and Matsuo also signed their names on the scoring list. The Samurai Blue will face the UAE in the semi-finals.
Al-Owaisi packs a hat-trick as Oman eliminate China
The Omanis proved to be ruthless in front of goal as they found the back of China’s net 11 times. Ahmed al-Owaisi was the most prolific player of the match scoring three goals. Mushel al-Araimi, Abdullah al-Sauti and Sami al-Bulushi scored a brace each.
With the competition taking a break on Friday, Oman will play against Iran for a place in the final, on Saturday.
