Semi-finals
Portugal win 7-3 against Belarus.
In the first semifinal, Portugal outclassed Belarus 7-3 to secure a spot in the final. The match began with both teams trading goals, as Bokach and Ryabko scored for Belarus, while R. Brilhante and Leo Martins replied for Portugal, ending the first period 2-2.
The second period saw Portugal take control, scoring three goals through Jordan, Pintado and Algarvio, while Belarus added one goal and conceded an own goal, making it 5-3 in favour of Portugal. The third period saw Portugal’s Algarvio score his second goal of the match, sealing a convincing 7-3 win for his team.
Portugal’s dominant performance sets them up for a thrilling final, while Belarus will aim to bounce back in the third-place playoff.
Italy win 4-3 against Spain, after extra-time.
Spain edged out Poland in a thrilling encounter that saw the Spanish team take an early lead in the first period, courtesy of Pedro’s goal, followed by a strike from Suli Batis, giving them a 2-0 advantage. Poland’s effort through Gajda’s late goal reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the second period.
Suli Batis’ second goal of the game extended Spain’s lead to 3-1. Poland’s comeback attempt resulting in Gajda’s second goal midway through the third period was not enough, as Spain got the hard-fought victory at full time but good to get them into the next stage.
The match recorded three caution events, with Poland receiving two yellow cards and Spain recording one.
Play-offs
9th/10th place
Germany win 4-3 against Moldova.
In a tightly contested match, Germany edged out Moldova to claim 9th place. The game got off with Moldova’s Ciobotaru opening the scoring just seconds into the match. Turta doubled the lead shortly after, but Germany fought back with goals from Baaske and Engelhardt to level the game 2-2 by the end of the first period.
Germany took control in the second period, with Sand and Olli finding the net to give their team a two-goal cushion. Moldova pulled one back through Florea, but were unable to find an equaliser despite their best efforts. The third period saw both teams create chances, but ultimately neither could find the net, securing a slim 4-3 victory for Germany.
The win was a hard-fought one for Germany, who had to overcome a spirited Moldovan side that showed glimpses of brilliance throughout the match.
11th/12th place
France win 5-3 against Denmark.
France made a blistering start to the match, scoring just seconds into the first period through Varrel’s goal. However, Denmark turned the tables through goals from Hoeleman and Wegeberg, taking a 2-1 lead into the break.
The second period proved to be a cagey affair, with neither side able to find the net. But the third period erupted into life, as France staged a stunning comeback. Vernhet, Bru, Salazar, and Drouillet all scored to take France’s goals to 5. Denmark managed to pull one back through Dorph, but it was too late. France secured a 5-3 victory and placed 11th.
France’s victory came at a cost, as they accumulated three yellow cards and a red card. Denmark, on the other hand, received only one yellow card.
