European powerhouses take topspots in Patras as Morocco and Libya clinch first win
The Azzurri are the only side to remain perfect at the Mediterranean Beach Games Patras 2019, taking six points from two games and are guaranteed a gold or silver medal at the Games.
Morocco dealt a nine-goal blow to Syria who remain in fourth, whilst groupmates Portugal defeated Greece by six goals to three to leapfrog them into first place.
The European champions, Italy, beat France by the same scoreline to become the only one of the eight teams in Greece yet to drop a point and to make the final. In the other match in Group B Albania suffered a second heavy beating, this time at the hands of Libya, who netted a total of 13.
The final group standings will go right down to the wire, with only Syria and Albania still to pick up three points.
In Group A, Portugal will meet Syria and the hosts will take on Morocco, while in Group B, France will face Libya and Albania have the tough task of going for their last chance at points against the best team in Europe, Italy.
