Italy and Denmark set for Sunday’s showdown

Italy and Denmark maintained their perfect records to secure their places in Sunday’s final, setting up an exciting contest for the title. Germany and hosts Moldova will meet in the third-place play-off.

Playoffs 5th-8th place
Kazakhstan win 7-5 against Estonia
Kazakhstan opened the scoring through Muralinov, but Kigaste responded almost immediately for Estonia. Minbayev restored Kazakhstan’s lead before Lilleorg levelled the match again, while Muralinov’s second goal gave Kazakhstan a 3–2 advantage at the first break.

Estonia drew level through Thomson early in the second period, but Dering struck twice in quick succession to put Kazakhstan 5–3 ahead heading into the final period.

Vihmoja reduced Estonia’s deficit before Muralinov completed his hat-trick to restore Kazakhstan’s two-goal advantage. Kallaste pulled Estonia back into contention, but Minbayev scored in the final minute to seal a hard-fought 7–5 victory for Kazakhstan.

Ukraine win 4-1 against Belgium
Ukraine made a perfect start, with Voitenko opening the scoring immediately. Belgium prevented any further goals during the opening period, leaving Ukraine with a narrow 1–0 advantage at the first break.

The second period remained closely contested, but Shchytnik found the net in the closing minutes to double Ukraine’s lead and make it 2–0 heading into the final period.

Budzko added Ukraine’s third goal early in the closing period before Dorian pulled one back for Belgium. However, Zaloznyi responded with a late goal to seal a convincing 4–1 victory for Ukraine.

Semi-finals
Italy win 6-2 against Germany
Italy made a strong start, with Giordani and Sassari giving them an early two-goal advantage. Baaske struck twice to bring Germany level, but late goals from Fazzini and Andriani restored Italy’s lead and made it 4–2 at the first break.

Germany defended more effectively in the second period, but Bertacca found the net midway through the period to extend Italy’s advantage to 5–2.

Fazzini scored his second goal of the match early in the final period. Italy then kept Germany at bay for the remainder of the contest to complete a convincing 6–2 victory.

Denmark win 4-0 against Moldova
Denmark took control of the contest when Wegeberg opened the scoring early in the first period. Moldova remained competitive but could not find an equaliser, leaving Denmark 1–0 ahead at the break.

Pilgaard doubled Denmark’s advantage early in the second period before Wegeberg struck again in the closing minutes, giving Denmark a comfortable 3–0 lead heading into the final period.

Madsen added Denmark’s fourth goal early in the closing period. Denmark remained defensively composed and kept Moldova scoreless to complete a convincing 4–0 victory.
