Israeli Beach Soccer League to return in June

This summer will see the captains of Brazil, Japan and Paraguay head to Hadera to compete


The Bank Yahav Beach Soccer league will be held this year in Hadera and the world’s best beach soccer stars will be in attendance.

The teams participating include: Maccabi Haifa, Beitar Jerusalem, Kfar Qassem, Rosh HaAyin, Hadera, Tel Aviv, Ashkelon as well as other yet to be confirmed, and the opening round will begin on Friday 17 June.

This year, the number of foreign players is at its highest, and the world’s best beach soccer players are expected to travel to Israel, such as Catarino (captain of the Brazil national team), Ozu (captain of the Japan national team) and Carballo (captain of the Paraguay national team) along with more top players like Edson Hulk, Filipe Silva and more.

Israel’s top players are also expected to play, such as Eran Levy and goalkeeper Almog Malul from Maccabi Kabilio Jaffa, Tiberias goalkeeper Assaf Raz, Shalom Edri, Elihai Tsabari and Adir Danin.

There will be seven rounds of the league to be held on Friday afternoons, with the first being on 17 June and last on July 29, when the semi-finals and finals be played. This year, the league will consist of 12 teams.

Acting Mayor of Hadera, Nir Ben Haim said that, “Bringing the popular sport of beach soccer to Hadera is a tremendous achievement for the city and a real cause for celebration for the residents. This is an event that is broadcast live on television and is considered one of the sporting highlights of the summer months. I am convinced that the gaming arena in Hadera will break records.”
