The Emirati hosted a double-leg friendly against the Magyar, just days ahead the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Asian Qualifier
Asian teams are making the most of these days to get to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier 2013 ? AFC Qualifier Qatar in the best possible condition. One of these sides, UAE, played a double-leg friendly game against Hungary these last Friday and Saturday, as a test to see how the team is ahead of such an important challenge. The fixtures took place on the Emirati training facilities, Al Mamzar Park in Dubai.
Each of the teams got one victory, with the Magyar hitting first on Friday with a tight win 3-4. Despite Marcelo Mendes? side got 2-0 ahead, with Rami and Hussan Ali, the European side leveled things back in the second period. The UAE were still feeling strong, and Adil swept the hosts ahead once again in the last stage. In the last minute, though, the UAE were not focused enough, as Hungary managed to turn the score around to end up winning the game 3-4.
UAE wanted that bad taste not to last one single minute in the second game, and performed amusingly to build a solid 4-0 advantage in the opening period on Saturday, pushing the score to 5-0 in the second leg. Hungary could pretty the score a bit up taking advantage of a red card that got the Emirati one player down for a while, pulling three goals back to leave the score 5-3.
After the games, UAE National Coach, Marcelo Mendes, pointed that ?the most important thing today was to test the team before the Qualifier. Hungary is a really tough team, and these two games have given me a lot of information to decide upon the final squad travelling to Doha. It was really important to test ourselves against a competitive side, and now we have some days to tune things up before flying to Qatar on the 17th.?
