After taking FC Barcelona to the clubs glory, the Carioca has been appointed to steer the Brazilian National side
Gilberto Costa, 38 years, has been appointed as Brazil’s National Coach . After winning the Mundialito the Clubes with FC Barcelona last Sunday, Gilberto announced he signed a deal to steer Brazil, at least, for the upcoming two seasons, including the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017.
“I was offered the possibility to become the Brazil National coach, with the main target being the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2017 Qualifiers. The objective now is to claim beach soccer’s global hegemony back in the next World Cup. It is a great challenge, and a great responsibility, but I am very happy and thankful for being given the chance to represent my country”.
His short coaching career has been full of successes so far, having won the Mundialito de Clubes up to three times, with Vasco da Gama, Corinthians and FC Barcelona, and a laudable spell in Belarus, when he got the best qualification ever in history in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup European Qualifier, as well as a promotion to Division A of the Euro Beach Soccer League.
Costa has been head coach since 2010, but the Rio de Janeiro born Banks a huge experience in beach soccer, having been in the technical staff of clubs and national teams since 2001. In that year, he began his first experience in the Brazilian national team, as a physical trainer.
